Toyota’s ‘100 Cars for Good’ Program Promoted on NBC-TV’s ‘Today Show’

Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” philanthropy program is being promoted all this week through Toyota’s participation in the popular “Lend a Hand” segment on NBC-TV’s “Today Show.”

Lend a Hand is a once-a-year, week-long series conducted by the Today Show’s Al Roker that surprises five charities in five different U.S. cities with corporate donations of needed items to support their worthy causes.  The finale to each day’s program is typically a vehicle donation.

In the past, Toyota has donated one of the five vehicles presented during the week.  This year, however, Toyota is donating five vehicles – one each day during the five-day TV segment.

The Lend a Hand segment began this morning and Toyota donated a Tundra Double Cab that went to Anchorage-based Alaska Pride. Through music, art, dance and athletic programs, Alaska Pride works to teach leadership skills to kids who lack access to after school and summer activities.

The 100 Cars for Good program began on May 9, 2011, and today is Day 36 of the 100 consecutive days of vehicle donations to deserving non-profits that are selected through public voting online.  Each day, public voting selects one of five organizations featured that day on Toyota’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/toyota).  The winning organization can choose to receive one of the following vehicles: Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Tundra, Highlander Hybrid, Sienna or Sienna Mobility. With each vehicle, Toyota Financial Services provides a six-year, 100,000-mile Toyota Vehicle Service Agreement to help provide extended protection beyond the vehicle warranty.  Each of the four runners up each day receives $1,000.
