Senate Democrats Propose $4.4 Billion Spur for Natural-Gas, Electric Vehicles
Senate Democrats have unveiled a scaled-down energy bill that would provide $4 billion in incentives to boost the use of natural-gas vehicles and $400 million for electric vehicles. That is substantially less than the $11 billion in the original legislation.
The new measure includes government rebates of $10,000 to $64,000 for natural-gas powered cars and heavy trucks. It also includes cash grants of up to $50,000 to stations that install natural gas pumps and cash grants for R&D and demonstration projects.
