All models of Tundra, including Tundra Work Truck Grade, have a tailgate assist feature. 

Advantage / Function

Tailgate assist eases closing the tailgate and keeps the tailgate from dropping hard when opening.

Technical Description

Tailgate assist is an option on some Tundra competitors but is and is generally limited to selected trim levels  In competitive applications, it eases closing the tailgate.  No other competitor features the opening assist function.

Tailgate assist uses an air spring of the type commonly used on hoods and liftgates.  Even with the assist, the Tundra tailgate remains easily removable.

Tundra owners benefit from added convenience and utility.
