With TFS Special Lease and Finance incentives to sweeten the deal:

Feature

Corolla and Matrix have numerous features that ensure exceptional durability.

See your Dealer Daily Incentives site for details on Corolla/Matrix special lease and finance rates.

Function/Advantage

To prevent corrosion Corolla and Matrix body panels are made from double-sided corrosion-resistant galvanized steel.  Anti-chip coatings are applied to the wheel wells and lower bodysides to further protect the finish and prevent rust.

In addition, the entire exhaust system on Corolla and Matrix is made of stainless steel.

The anti-chip coatings are not found on any of Corolla and Matrix competitors and Honda does not use stainless steel for Civic exhaust pipes.

Technical Information and Details

Double-sided corrosion-resistant steel is used for all inner and outer body panels except the center of the roof where there is no chance of moisture build up. When the vehicle is equipped with a factory moon roof the roof section is double-sided corrosion resistant steel.  This reduces the chance of rust perforation even it the paint is damaged, making repairs less costly and simpler.

Seams between panels on the lower body and doors are treated with a wax coating that prevents any built up moisture from reaching the metal where the panels join.

The wheel wells and other lower body areas are coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a waterproof material notable for its durability.  Lower bodysides are treated to a polyurethane primer that prevents damage from road debris.

Stainless steel resists corrosion particularly prevalent in low-lying bends in exhaust systems where water can settle when the engine is turned off.  Water is a product of the combustion process and as the exhaust system cools it will condense in the pipes.
