Daily Tips – What’s New for 2011?: Tundra Power Outlets
Every model year, and occasionally in between, Toyota makes changes to vehicles designed to enhance safety, comfort, convenience, performance, durability and dependability. This follows the Kaizen process of continual improvement.
On the other hand, cost considerations and durability and dependability concerns have led to some changes noted by experienced Toyota Sales Pros as “decontenting” issues. These areas need to be addressed, particularly as concern customers trading an older ! version of the same vehicle and having certain expectations that may not be met.
Often these changes are easily missed on vehicles that are otherwise carryover models. Knowing “What’s New?” can help you build in the product while avoiding making claims that could become a customer satisfaction issue later.
New Feature
2011 Tundra now features an added 12-volt power point replacing the cigarette lighter.
Advantage / Function
Adding a dedicated power point creates added utility, especially for Tundra owners whose truck doubles as a mobile office, or when traveling with family or friends who need to stay connected.
Technical Information / Comments
The added 12-volt power point brings the minimum total available to the front passengers to 2 with a bench seat and 3 when bucket seats are selected. Another power point serves the rear seat on double Cab and Crew Max models.
CrewMax equipped with a rear entertainment system also features a 120 volt power outlet for the rear compartment to support video game consoles.
In a change from the 2010 model the power outlets no longer operate when the ignition is off.

Tundra provides utility not found in competitive makes.
